Best game of the Tri-Nations season : New Zealand vs Australia

One of the best games of the Tri-nations season must have been the All Blacks vs the Wallabies. To anyone who wanted a crash course in rugby this game was a perfect example of what a good game is. Both teams played their hearts out but the Wallabies were out played.

The one this that stood out about the All Blacks was their attack and ruthless in your face defence that has been rated their most lethal weapon heading into the World Cup.

New Zealand coach Graham Henry and his Wallaby rival Robbie Deans both pinpointed the All Blacks defence as a crucial factor in their 30-14 win over the Australians

The All Blacks pulled off 116 tackles and only missed 21 against the Wallabies. The Wallabies got a lesson on how to execute training drills on game day and capitalize on the opponents mistakes.

The stand out players from the Wallabies side were Digby Ioane with his quick footwork, chased everything hard and scoring that amazing try and Kurtley Beale supporting his team mate. The best from the All Blacks’ side were Piri Weepu and Daniel Carter the all-round genius for making all those kicks, especially the drop goal which one of the commentators said it was so effortless that “it looked like he was just out walking his dog”. Ma’a Nonu, Kevin Mealamu and  Sitiveni Sivivatu were also outstanding by scoring all the All Black tries.

Quade Cooper on the other hand was put under pressure, He only managed a few good kicks and passes especially the one he made that led to a try by Rocky Elsom.

After the All Blacks performance against both the Springboks and the Wallabies, the Springbok coach Peter de Villiers rates the All Blacks as favorites for the World Cup. However New Zealand coach Graham Henry  is reluctant to comment, saying that his side has repeatedly started as favorites and failed to deliver in the showpiece tournament

This was definitely a very physical game between the two sides and I now cannot wait to see what happens in the World Cup.
